Emerging Professionals Program

The Emerging Professionals Program (EPP) is an initiative by the CSEG and the CSEG Foundation to provide learning opportunities to CSEG members. These opportunities include technical workshops and soft skills development. The focus of the EPP is on young professionals who have graduated from a post-secondary institution and have approximately 0 – 5 years of experience but all CSEG members are welcome to attend.

To encourage and promote the development of young professionals’ knowledge, skills and attributes within the CSEG though a variety of educational, networking, and employability skills in hopes of helping develop tomorrow’s geoscientists today.

Collaborate with the EPP

The EPP wants to collaborate with individuals and companies to provide meaningful content to CSEG members. The goal of this collaboration is to have experienced industry professionals pass on their knowledge by giving a lecture or workshop on a topic of industry interest. Inter-society event in conjunction with the SPE, CSPG, SEG and the CWLS. Come learn about utilizing social media such as LinkedIn to manage your career and expand your professional network.

June 18th, 2015 1:00-4:00pm at the CGG Hampson Russell office.
EPP and CGG Hampson-Russell are working together to bring you a half-day technical workshop on Well-Seismic Correlation. This event is free and is open to the first 20 people to sign up. Please contact to register.

Feb. 25th, 2015
Rae Shungur from Design Group Staffing gave a presentation on Employability in the industry today. His presentation included information on various factors of employability such as one’s knowledge and expertise, interpersonal skills, and more importantly, how to effectively present said assets and skills to potential employers. Rae’s presentation was well received by the 25 attendees. We thank Rae and Design Group Staffing for their time and effort!

Dec. 21st, 2014
The EPP’s first event in conjunction with the SPE, CSPG, SEG, and the CWLS was an inter-society networking event. Attendance from each society was strong and totaled 128 people.

Collaborating with our sister societies, like the SPE, CSPG and CWLS, is essential for developing solutions to the challenges our industry faces. We have a responsibility to our society and environment to ensure best practices and better science to safely unlock our resources.
